Motivation#
mdopt expresses discrete optimisation tasks in the tensor-network (MPS/MPO) formalism. This enables controlled approximations (e.g., bond-dimension truncation) and leverages well-studied contraction/optimisation techniques for problems such as decoding quantum error-correcting codes.
